Acton Homeless Concern

View IMAG0056.jpg in slide showOn Wednesday, me and my family went to London to drop of about 100 bags that we did to the Acton Homeless Concern. (To see what we put into the bags go to this post: http://govindchahal.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/bags-for-homeless.html )

The Acton Homeless Concern is run by hundreds volunteers. A volunteer who was interviewed said that she started helping here about four years ago and finds that the people she helps are always nice. She said that she always says 'The more you have, the more you think you need'.

The purpose of the charity is to reach out to those who have nothing by giving them a safe friendly place where they'll be warmly welcomed as guests and offered practical help. Acton Homeless Concern started in 1998when the Sacred Hearts Community responded to those that came to the Church door looking for food, clothing, friendship and advice.

Leaving Primary :'(

Primary school is almost over. :( I've got half a day of school tomorrow so that's all I have left with this year group as the secondary school I'm going to, no one else is going to. :( I will miss everyone soooooooooooo much.

This afternoon we had our Leavers' Assembly. Some people started to cry when we were singing our leavers' song so I tried not to look at them as I was about to starts too!! Everyone was given a certificate for something they achieved through the year or something they've got better at. My certificate was for my ICT skills because I made my own blog. We were all given a copy of the DVD that had our show on (we filmed it on the last night!). We were also each given a Leavers' yearbook. Everyone wrote a little message in it even the teachers that teached us this year. Earlier this evening I was at the year 6 leavers' disco! It was a lot of fun. I took a few pictures as well!

Tomorrow I'm taking a school polo shirt and my leavers' book for everyone to sign (It's a tradition!).

As I've already said,  I'll miss everyone loads and loads!! :(:(  I hope I have a good last day at primary though. :)

Year 6 Show!

The Year 6 show was called 'Panto Pandemonium'. It was really fun to perform this in front of the school and our parents! Here's a link to the trailer we made for our show that was posted on the Year 6 blog. Panto Pandemonium

I played one of the teachers in our school!

We showed Foundation Stage and Year 1 on Friday 5th July 2013, Years 2, 3 and 4 on Monday 8th
July 2013, Year 5 and some people's family on the afternoon of Tuesday 9th July 2013, some people's
family on the evening if Tuesday 9th July 2013 and all the other people's family on the evening of
Wednesday 10th July 2013.

The scenery and face painting were really good as well!

This show was the last show we would all do as a year group :(

SATs

SATs week this year was 13th - 16th May. Before I did my tests, I was getting stressed out about whether I would get a level 5 or not and if I'd be ill on one of the days etc. However, when it was finally  over, I didn't know what I was getting so worried about.

Year 6 this year had to take an extra test: SPAG (Spelling, punctuation and grammar). So instead of taking just 4 tests, we took 5! I was one out of seven people who took the level 6 maths test so we had 7 tests. Our exams were: reading paper, maths paper A, maths paper B, mental maths, SPAG, level 6 maths paper A and level 6 maths paper B. we also had to do writing so that could be assessed as well.

We got our results a couple of weeks ago and I luckily did really well!! I got level 5's in reading and writing and was fortunate enough to be able to get that level 6 in maths!
