Is Exploring Always A Good Idea?

Bored, I sat fidgeting in front of the blazing fire thinking, just wondering, what on earth I could do to pass time. Walking! Exploring! So this was what I decided to do…

Slipping on my white coat, I stepped outside breathing in the fresh air. Meandering around for a few minutes, I came across steep steps that looked like they led up to a wonderland of adventures. I didn’t know what to do. Should I climb them? Should I venture further into unknown territory? I chose to do so. Having no proper idea of where I was going, I climbed…

The car Stopped Suddenly (100WC)

Moments later, I carefully and gently opened my blurry eyes. I could see around about 2 or 3 of everything around me. Pounding, my heart was almost about to burst out of my chest while my hurting head was throbbing. At the same time as my eyes returning back to their normal state, I cautiously got up from the car’s seat and sat back into a relaxing position. I was not quite sure if my parents had realised what had happened to me; I wasn’t too sure either!  Slowly, I looked at of the window and the car stopped suddenly…

What's That? (My 500 Word Challenge)

Loudly, the heavy rain poured down as the angry wind howled at the roaring thunder. The freezing night outside was nowhere near the cosiness of our small cottage. While I watched the rain outside, I sat in front of the burning fire. We had no electricity because of the rain. Even though I was sitting in front of the fire, I was still shivering all over.

As I looked around the dark room, I thought I saw something- I didn’t know what it was but I was too scared to stand up and search. After a moment or two, my mother came into the gloomy room holding a candle in one hand and a blanket in the other. She gave the blanket to me to wrap around myself for warmth and put the candle on the table in the middle of the room to help the roasting fire illuminate the room.

I didn’t tell her about what I had seen but I am not sure if that was the wisest decision. I kept my lips zipped as I stared outside at the starry sky. A few moments later, I looked at the corner of the room where I saw it; I kept looking and saw it again. I saw it more clearly the second time round: it was some sort of ghost like person with a sharp knife in its hand. I saw its eyes. They were red.

I screamed as soon as I saw the knife, got up and went to my mother. She instantly looked in the same direction I was looking and got on her feet as well. The figure disappeared when my mother grabbed the diminutive candle placed on the small, wooden table. She took small steps up to the corner by the door and then exited the room: I followed. All I could hear was my heart pounding in my chest which faded out the sound of the thunderous rain.

Me and my mother stood dead in our tracks when we saw the person again at the top of the stairs. Rapidly, the shape vanished. We waited a few seconds before we started our walk up the steep steps. I felt like I was going to faint because of everything that was going on around me. Finally, we reached the top, still with me hiding behind my mother’s back. We saw it slowly drift into a wooden cupboard. We walked towards it – our hearts beating hastily now. When we opened it, I hoped that we wouldn’t see it and we would be opening the door to Narnia but that obviously wasn’t going to happen.

When we opened it, it was empty…

My mother looked around the cupboard through the coats, but still, nothing was there. My nerves seemed to have calmed down however, I wasn’t calmed down; I knew that that wasn’t the end of this haunting night. I turned around timidly. It was there. My mother turned around. The figure made the first move…

Happy New Year!!

DING! DONG! DING! DONG! As Big Ben struck midnight, the first fantastic bang of the ten minute firework display was heard by the entire country! A kaleidoscope of bright colours filled the liquorice, black sky. Everyone knew that it was a new start for us all. People lucky enough to stand in front of the London eye and near Big Ben all held hands, swayed and sang a traditional song as sweet as angels. Looking around, you could see millions of smiles. Everybody was in a merry and jolly mood, with a huge, happy smile on their faces, wondering what the new year of 2013 would bring them…

My adventure, 100 word challenge.

I had been walking for ages. My legs were cold and aching but I couldn’t stop searching. Slowly, flake by flake, snow started falling: I thought that there was enough snow on the ground already! My feet felt numb inside my boots but I couldn’t stop searching – I couldn’t stop searching for shelter, somewhere to stay for the night. I had been walking in the forest and before I knew it, I was roaming around in snow, I tried turning back but there was no way out. It was sunset when I came to a cottage, it looked upside down…

Describing the view...

Hong Kong!
Sitting on the top floor in Hong Kong’s tallest skycraper, I stared at the wonderful view through the huge window. Lights of many buildings were like an array of shimmering stars entertaing the eyes of many creatures. Some people had their lights on; others weren’t using theirs. Skyscrapers covered the land: some big; others small. Different colours shone through the windows of many towers – pink, blue, yellow and lots more. The water was like a mirror showing the reflection of the collosal towers near the coast. The buildings were formed in all kinds of shapes. This experience was unforgetable!

Scary Story

“MOM?”I called,”DAD?”
“Its ok,”my dad replied,”The electric has just gone off.” I was happily sitting on the sofa in the lounge doing my homework on my laptop. The fire was still on and I could see the moon shining in through the window. I felt safe hearing the reassuring voices of my parents: trying to put the power back on. The fire started to make an eerie hissing sound and all of a sudden my laptop went off and then came back on again. All I could see were two red eyes staring at me…

The Gunpowder Plot (Guy Fawkes)

Anticipation was slowly building up in my body while I was looking for the signal to go. Thirtysix barrels of gunpowder were lined up like soldiers waiting for their next command. My heart was pounding inside my chest when I was preparing for the huge explosion that was planned to blow up the reigning king. I lost control of my nerves when I heard someone coming down the stairs:STOMP,STOMP,STOMP! They knew about the plot, the security guards, the king, everyone! What was going to happen to me? Now, all I could do was hope for the best…
